March is Arizona Archaeology and Heritage Awareness Month.

The Friends of the San Pedro River will lead walks to significant historic sites within the San Pedro Riparian National Conservation Area every Saturday in March.

March 8 - Murray Springs Clovis Site
This mammoth kill site was recently designated a National Historic Landmark and is perhaps the preeminent Paleo-Indian site in the southwest, dating to 12,000 years ago. Join FSPR docent Dwight Long on this easy 1.5-mile hike. Meet at the Murray Springs Parking Area off Moson Road.

March 15 - Fairbank Historic Townsite
March 22 - History Walk at South Fairbank
March 29 - History Walk to Clanton Ranch

All tours will start at 9:00 am. Wear a hat and good walking shoes; bring sunscreen, water, and a snack. Allow at least 3 hours for each walk.

Basic Directions

Meet at the Murray Springs parking area, 1/4 mile east of Moson Rd.

Look for the sign for the entrance road on Moson Rd about 1 mile north of Highway 90, east of Sierra Vista.
