Bisbee Royale to reopen
Reopening with a fresh concept, the Bisbee Royale will aim to be a cultural oasis in the desert. Guests can visit the Bisbee Royale for an evening of entertainment and high quality food and drink.
Managing member Sloane Bouchever has a renewed vision for the Bisbee Royale. The former church, converted to an entertainment venue in 2012, will open as a restaurant and lounge featuring a simple, elegant food and wine menu with quality films and events.
Movies shown will include independents, documentaries, classics, foreign films, and the occasional blockbuster. Events will include occasional lectures as well as concerts with a tendency toward flamenco and world music. The Bisbee Royale features an 18-foot movie screen, quality sound system and cabaret-style seating for 75. Guests can call ahead to reserve one of three large booths in the back of the theatre, each of which seats parties up to nine guests.
The Bisbee Royale will feature a host of simple, upscale food options. Shrimp cocktail, brie and hummus plates, chocolate mousse, crème brûlée and Italian ices will be on the menu. Traditional movie fare such as candy and popcorn will be available, but the Royale will kick it up a notch, using organic non-GMO popcorn popped in sunflower oil. A Pop Art toppings bar will have options like Thai lemongrass chili and pesto parmesan. Vintage-style candies will also be available. Beverages will include beer by the bottle as well as California and international wines by the glass and bottle.
The Bisbee Royale’s events will start at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. Doors will open at 6 p.m. each night. Tickets for films will be $7 each and will be available at the box office nightly or online through the Bisbee Royale's website.
The venue will close at 10 p.m. (or after the events end). Guests can then order a bottle of wine and selection of desserts to take home.
The Bisbee Royale is located in the large royal blue building at 94 Main Street in Bisbee. For more information, call the Royale Box Office for show times at 520-432-0166 or visit www.BisbeeRoyale.com for information and to purchase tickets. (phone number and website will begin working in April).
