Join us for “Extending the Table – Father Kino’s Role in the Introduction of European Food and Livestock” with speaker Father Greg Adolf.

According to Father Greg Adolf, every time we enjoy carne asada or snack on a Quesadilla, we are paying a kind of homage to Padre Kino who introduced wheat, cattle, and cheese-making to this region. Three hundred and thirty-three years ago Eusebio Francisco Kino rode into what would become his base-of-operations at Mission Dolores in Cosari, 100 miles south of here. Join Father Greg for an insightful look into this “new” agricultural revolution, the role food played in the missions, and the impact on our region.

Additional Information

Amazing Arizona, hosted by the Henry F. Hauser Museum, is a series of educational presentations seeking to educate and entertain the community regarding unique historical aspects of our state. Our current series was inspired by a collection of quilts donated by our own Hummingbird Stitchers Quilt Guild depicting the nature, culture, and history of life along the border.
