Shannon McNeil is an Avian Ecologist with the Southern Sierra Research Station. As the presenter in FSPR's monthly lecture series, she will review current knowledge about the breeding status of western yellow-billed cuckoos, drawing substantially from her most recent work monitoring the response of cuckoos to riparian forest creation in the southwest.

The western yellow-billed cuckoo is an iconic, if secretive, nesting bird along the San Pedro River; in fact, it's one of the species that brings thousands of visitors every year to our area.

Come learn why the US Fish & Wildlife Service recently proposed to list this beautiful subtropical bird as threatened.
