Cochise County will celebrate Arizona's Centennial birthday with county-wide events happening throughout 2011 and 2012. Arizona became a state on February 14, 1912.

All year, we’re celebrating with Cochise County’s “History on the Move,” a traveling exhibit depicting Cochise County’s role in Arizona history. Exploring the historical figures in Cochise County will help you understand the development of Arizona as the unique state it is.
You’ll find information about the following legendary places and events in Cochise County:
- Tombstone, the “Town too Tough to Die”
- Fort Huachuca, an active military installation and a national historic landmark, in Sierra Vista
- Bisbee’s Queen Mine contributions to the economy of Arizona and the nation
